Understanding Efficiency: Positive impacts on lenders, owners, and residents

The Sustainability in Affordable Housing Lender Learning Network, a community of CDFIs and other affordable multifamily housing lenders, hosts webinars that provide insights into making water and energy efficiency investments in affordable multifamily housing properties.

This session, the first in a series of three trainings, provides an overview of how energy and water efficiency can be beneficial to both borrower and lender and outlines why recognizing the value of efficiency is a critical step toward unlocking investment opportunities that improve loan performance and ensure long-term financial stability. It draws from the Community Preservation Corporation’s (CPC) landmark publication, Underwriting Efficiency: A mortgage lender’s how-to guide for realizing energy and water efficiency opportunities in multifamily housing. Presenters are Elizabeth Kelly, Manager of Sustainability Programs, Community Preservation Corporation, and Robert Riggs, Senior Vice President & Regional Director NYC, Community Preservation Corporation.
